Get Out's Daniel Kaluuya has already proven his ability to carry a story and convey a character with few words, but Jodie Turner-Smith proves his equal in as well-cast a pair of actors as there has ever been.
Matsoukas wisely makes the characters who will ultimately become Queen and Slim relatively unaware of their transformation from Tinder date strangers to symbols of defiance; despite the charisma of their personas as presented in the film's marketing, this leading duo are never anything but cautious as they drive cross-country to escape the injustice of the law. Instead, Matsoukas makes their journey a contemplative one, grounding their developing romance at the centre of the political and cultural fallout which they leave in their wake.
Some might say that Queen & Slim arrives at its profound ending somewhat hastily, but its abrupt impact is felt in the same sudden manner as the inciting incident which sets the narrative in motion, reinforcing the futility of hasty, reckless violence and the innocent lives which it so mercilessly affects.

Admittedly this is not the he first movie that tackles the topic but is for sure on of the best ones. David Kaluuya Jodie Turner-Smith are incredible. Their acting is so unbelievably great but not just them separately but the chemistry they have together. It is working right from the start and as they get closer we are just in love with them being in love. Despite it being kind of a thriller and kind of road movie and kind of a drama it is above all a love story. You will also notice how beautifully it is shot. Now I gotta say I hated the ending. Not how it ends because this was clear from the start but the way it happens is too convenient. But it is still a great movie carried by the two leads.
